Stop this land xenophobia | Bangkok Post: news.

Doing ok until this: “. . . progressive land tax . . . .”  Thailand’s citizenry and businesses are already overtaxed (other than those selected foreign enterprises getting “incentives” for the initial period anyway and others transacting off books or offshore).  People don’t have land because they are poor.  They are poor for all sorts of reasons unrelated to who owns what land.  Also, how about questioning why almost half the territory would be owned by the government (including SOEs is not clear in the article) or off limits as “earmarked” forest land.  The 12.5% house and land tax on gross rents should also be abolished.
